INFORMATIVE SPEECH

You will present a 5-7 minute informative speech on a topic of your choice. In this speech you should educate and inform your audience on a particular topic to give them a better understanding of it. You are required to cite at least 5 sources. Specific detailed guidelines will be provided during the introduction and discussion of the assignment in order to help with content development, organization and delivery of this speech.

**NOTE**

If you select a topic that can be both informative & persuasive, you MUST take great care in ommitting persuasive content.

For Example:

"The benefits/dangers of" = Persuaive
"You should..." = Persuasive
"This is good/bad because" = Persuasive

The above items are not a full list of persuasive indicators, but can give you an idea of how a speech can be moved in a persuasive direction. If you present a persuasive speech disguised as an informative presentation you will take a pretty hard hit on the speech grade. If I have expressed my concerns that your topic would be difficult to not make persuasive and you decide to do it anyway, there will not be any lienency if you develop the wrong type of content to keep it within the informative guidelines.
